Do I need a controller to play?

While it's preferred, you don't need it. You can play with a keyboard, and you can even play in shared controller mode if you only have one device but still want to play multiplayer.

Is there online multiplayer or is it just local?

There is both local and online multiplayer, and there will be both when we launch on console as well.

I have suggestions to make the game better!

Great! Please see our Steam suggestion thread, we read it all even if we don't respond to each post.

I've lost my progress! Oh no!  :'(

If you've lost your progress, please send us an email at letting us know what you had unlocked, and we'll tell you how to fix it.

Getting a pink screen

This is usually a problem with a computer not meeting the minimum specs for the game (scroll down on the Steam page to find minimum specs). Try updating your graphics drivers, and if that doesn't work, please send us an email at

Game crashes right away

Please refer to answer #1 on the list of Fixes to Common Problems, the one that refers to the C++ redistributable, or to #9 which refers to the Windows 10 Creator update.

When I turn the game on, it appears in the task bar but I can't find the window (reg edit solution)

This solution involves deleting the Unity Game preferences from the Windows registry. These registry entries don't get changed when you reinstall the game, so deleting them and forcing them to be remade might help fix your problem. Especially if the game worked in the past, but doesn't work now.

Be extremely careful when doing registry edits. Make a backup before these changes to protect yourself against mistakes:

We're going to try to delete the player preferences installed to your registry by our game, then restart the game. So:

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type "regedit" and Registry Editor should pop up... click on that. It might ask for administrator permission.
  3. On the left side, open the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" folder, then "SOFTWARE", then "Clever Endeavour Games" as shown in this image
  4. Right click on "Ultimate Chicken Horse" and press delete. It'll ask if you want to delete all keys, press yes.
  5. Next time you start the game this folder will rebuild itself, and it might fix the problem you are having.

Is there a DRM-free version of the game?

Our game uses Steam to update to the latest version and to play online, so it can only be played via Steam if you're on PC, Mac or Linux. We have no additional DRM on the game, so the only DRM to speak of is Steam.

Will there ever be new characters? Maps? Blocks? Game modes?

We're working on new content that will launch with console, but we can't release information about it now. In the future, if the community stays alive and the demand is there, we plan to continue creating more content.

When is the game coming out on console?

We're aiming to launch summer 2017, but we haven't announced a release date yet in case it ends up later than that. Better to hold off until we're 100% sure so that nobody gets disappointed.

Will there be cross-play?

We'd like to, but it will depend on the permission we get from the different platform holders. We'll try to keep you updated before / around launch.

Can I stream your game on my YouTube channel? Can I get a key?

Yes you can, it's on our policies page. If you want to request a Steam key for the game, please email and MAKE SURE that your email is VERIFIABLE on your YouTube "about" page, Twitch profile or Twitter. We don't send keys if the email can't be confirmed, and we don't do large giveaways even if the email is verified.

What are you working on next?

Not sure yet, there's still a lot to do on this game and while we've started thinking about next projects, we don't have anything set yet.
