A few of the Coolest Ultimate Chicken Horse Levels from the Community

In case you didn't know, we recently went on sale for Midweek Madness and with that, we launched two new mega features: Level Sharing and Free Play Mode. You can read about this our last blog post, which also explains how to input custom levels into your own game.

Anyway, for this blog post, we decided to gather a few of the coolest level codes and share them with you. Of course, we didn't have a chance to see all of the levels made by Ultimate Chicken Horsers so we're sorry if you think yours deserved to be in here.

194J-EZXT: Horse's Mega Windmill

This is the level from the Free Play & Level Sharing trailer, in case you didn't see it. Now you can try for yourself! And now a couple from the community...

9USY-4KJH: Maze, by @ZeroJustice21 (from Twitter)

This level features a bunch of choices, some easy and some hard, some deadly and some... well... also deadly. Not exceptionally difficult, but still requires a bit of practice to complete. But hey, there aren't "lives" in this game so you're good!

UMAM-879W: Panic at the Disco V2, by Heytheremrguy (from Steam)

This is an extremely hard level, made harder by the fact that you can't see all the time. It features precision jumps, lots of barbed wire, and lots of death. Hint: if you hold B (or backspace) to switch to build mode and back to run mode, the background light pattern will change.

Free Play Mode, Snapshot Sharing & More!

Big news this week! We shared this info in our development newsletter and our Kickstarter campaign, so I thought I'd share on our blog as well.

Very soon, we'll be introducing two big, long-awaited new features into our game, Ultimate Chicken Horse: Free Play Mode and Snapshot Sharing.

What on earth is that thing?? Well, that's the beginning of a level made by Rich from Clever Endeavour, using the new Free Play Mode. In this new game mode, you can build freely without worrying about time restrictions, rules, points, winning, or even dying. Build the fantasmical creations of your dreams, and play online with friends or strangers to collaborate.

But why spend so much time on this snapshot of a level if you can't even share it? YOU CAN.

When you're done building your snapshot level, you can get a shareable code when you pause the game. You can even do this while playing the regular game in Party Mode or Creative Mode, and get a snapshot code to share with your friends on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, or wherever you'd like! You can also save your level locally and rename it. Then, you can take your friends' codes and try them out for yourself, modify them, play on them, whatever you please.

With this new feature, it'll be super easy to make level snapshots like the one you see above. Follow us on Twitter to make sure you know when this update drops, cause it's coming soon!

Also, happy almost-Halloween!

Working on Schooled with Rooster Teeth

I wanted to take this week's blog post to give thanks to and talk about my experience with the Rooster Teeth team and their production of their show "Schooled". Schooled is a show where Geoff Ramsay (of Rooster Teeth fame) trains a group of kids to beat the Achievement Hunter folks (also YouTube stars) at a video game. The game in this case, is Ultimate Chicken Horse.

I worked with an amazing producer named Mike from INE Entertainment, and I was actually able to Skype in with the kids while they played. Working with him, with the kids, with Geoff, and with Millie (his daughter), was absolutely great and I really appreciated being there. The kids really seemed to enjoy having me there, and I think this is a great opportunity for them and for Rooster Teeth.

I'm not a great actor or particularly expressive on camera, and they helped me out to feel comfortable and relaxed. I really earned a ton of respect for video producers, content creators on YouTube, and the Rooster Teeth team not only for helping me and giving me that opportunity but also for trying a show that leads in a more family-friendly direction. Their usual stuff is, well, not family-friendly so it's a risk that they're taking and so far it seems to be working really well.

So big thanks to them! This show is giving us exposure, especially to the younger audience which will be important once we come out on console.
